Finding the dirt that God sees…

Good Morning,

Once again it has been a while since I wrote and I am pleased to be able to sit down for a moment and feel drawn to do it again.

Psalm 32:1-2 The Message (MSG)

A David Psalm

32 Count yourself lucky, how happy you must be—

    you get a fresh start,

    your slate’s wiped clean.

Count yourself lucky—

    God holds nothing against you

and you’re holding nothing back from him.

Clean….

Yesterday, a friend helped me clean and refurbish the sliding glass doors at the back of my house. It was a task of removing all of the doors, cleaning the tracks, getting the wheels to run smoothly again and replacing them all.

We were on our hands and knees cleaning the tracks and just amazed at how much dirt kept coming out. We used a wire brush and a shop vac and kept finding more. Then God showed it to me.

What we were doing at first was holding the brush straight up from the tracks and removing the dirt straight below. Then we realized that there are many angles that can be used to reach more dirt.

I would think that God would look at us from every angle. It just took a slight twist of our wrist to change the “perspective” of the brush to reach more dirt. I would like to think that when God looks at us, He tilts his head just a bit and changes his “angle” of looking at us.

Are we doing that?

How many times have we (men) looked in the mirror after shaving and just tilted our head a bit to find that spot we missed? I know that I have. Amazingly enough, I always find a spot I missed.

Do we honestly look at our lives for sin removal?

Matthew 23:26 New Living Translation (NLT)

26 You blind Pharisee! First wash the inside of the cup and the dish, and then the outside will become clean, too.

I think it is our nature to want to clean the outside first. It is what everyone sees. How many times have we taken our car to get an exterior wash and the inside hs full of trash that never gets touched? Are we doing ourselves the same way?

Gets the tracks clean.

We kept cleaning the tracks on the doors until they were clean. we held the brush at different angles and went over them multiple times and you know what. I bet I can still find more dirt. They are cleaner now and working a lot better but I know it is not perfect.

Are we like the dirty tracks?

I would think so. They got dirty (We get sinful), The tracks were slightly maintained and looked clean (We remove some of our top layer sin from our lives, the sin others see). The tracks still deteriorated over time though they looked clean (We pile up the hidden sin in our lives, and we move away from God and His plan for us), Got to remove the doors and deep clean the tracks (We need to enter prayer and repentance to really allow God to expose our sin for cleaning), the tracks will get dirty again (Our nature will allow sin to creep in)

Be On Guard

The enemy is slick, slicker than you and I and he will find ways to get us to allow “our tracks” to get dirty again. We need to always be on our guard and I feel we will always need to do the spring cleaning (In this case fall cleaning) and expose the dirt in our lives.

Blessings and Thank you for reading,

Jeff
